The ABDR team at Monash University is comprised of academics, clinical specialists in plastic and reconstructive, cosmetic and breast surgery, researchers, data managers and support staff.

Professor Susannah Ahern 
Head of Registry Science Program

Prof.  Susannah Ahern is the Head of the Registry Science and Research Program at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) at Monash University, where she leads a number of registries including the Australian Breast Device Registry, the Australian Dementia Network Registry, the Australasian Pelvic Floor Procedure Registry and the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry. As a previous medical administrator, she is course Coordinator of the Master of Health Management/Master Health Administration at SPHPM. She is a member of the Australian Commission in Safety and Quality in Health Care’s Advisory Committee for CQRs, the Commonwealth Department of Health’s CQR Strategy Expert Advisory Group and the Victorian DHHS’s CQR Advisory Group. Susannah represents the ABDR on the TGA Breast Implant Expert Working Group and the International Collaboration of Breast Registry Activities (ICOBRA).

Professor John McNeil
Professor and former Head of School

Department of Epidemiology & Preventative Medicine

Prof. John McNeil formerly led Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM), the second largest school at the university, which conducts epidemiologic and clinical trials in all areas of medicine. John has been involved in a variety of leadership roles including directorships of Austin Health, Alfred Health, the Australian Institute of Health & Welfare and the Metropolitan Ambulance Service. He is currently the Scientific Secretary of the International Society of Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy and is a member of the Alfred Research Council, the Austin Life Sciences Board, The Royal Melbourne Hospital Research Grants Committee and the selection committee for the Victorian Premier’s Award for Health & Medical Research. John is passionate about the impact of clinical registries on public health and has executive oversight of all clinical quality registries in the School.
